PPP leader vows to provide additional electricity support to 1.3m households

The leader of the ruling People Power Party, Han Dong-hoon, revealed plans during a supreme council meeting to provide an extra 15,000 won in electricity support to 1.3 million vulnerable households in order to help them better handle the extreme heat. He highlighted that many families are struggling with the current heat wave and outlined that the support scheme will essentially cover the entire electricity bill for these households during this challenging period, as they already receive about 60,000 won in discounts and energy vouchers. Han emphasized that the average monthly electricity bill for a four-person household in the summer is around 76,000 won. In addition, Han also announced that the PPP will work towards passing a special bill on semiconductors, which involves establishing a special committee under the presidential office to enhance the semiconductor industry. These measures aim to address the challenges faced by vulnerable households during the heat wave and to support the growth and development of the semiconductor sector.
