PPP leader welcomes opposition leader's offer of talks


The leader of the ruling People Power Party expressed his approval of the opposition leader's proposal for discussions following his reelection. Han Dong-hoon, the PPP leader, welcomed Lee Jae-myung's offer for talks during a party meeting, hoping that their meeting could make progress on unresolved livelihood-related matters. He also expressed the desire to arrange a meeting as soon as possible. Lee, who secured a second term with a record vote share, suggested holding talks with President Yoon Suk Yeol to address urgent livelihood issues and separately proposed discussions with Han on pressing matters, including a bill related to the death of a young Marine conscript. This proposal comes after the two parties previously agreed to promptly address bills concerning livelihood issues that had been delayed due to prolonged disputes over other contentious matters. Overall, the ruling party leader welcomed the opposition leader's offer for discussions, expressing hope for tangible progress on stalled livelihood-related issues, while the opposition leader proposed talks with both the ruling party leader and the president to address pressing matters.
