Prosecutors are currently investigating the financial accounts of the former president and his wife in connection with allegations that their former son-in-law was unfairly hired as an airline executive in exchange for favors for the firm's founder. The Jeonju District Prosecutors Office recently obtained and executed a search warrant to examine the financial accounts of Moon and Kim. The investigation stems from a corruption complaint filed by the People Power Party four years ago regarding their former son-in-law, who was appointed as an executive director at a Thailand-based budget carrier following the appointment of a political figure affiliated with Moon's party as head of a government agency. The investigation is particularly focused on the financial support provided by the Moon couple to their daughter's family, as well as whether the appointment of the political figure was made in exchange for the hiring of their son-in-law at the airline company. The former son-in-law, who has since divorced Moon's daughter, has been questioned as a witness multiple times this year, choosing to remain silent during the questioning.
