Samsung, LG showcase next-gen display tech at IMID

Samsung Display and LG Display were honored at the International Meeting on Information Display symposium at Jeju International Convention Center, with both companies winning Display of the Year awards. Samsung Display unveiled a stretchable micro-LED display panel with impressive resolution and elongation rate, suitable for various applications such as creating buttons on flat screens and applying to uneven surfaces like fabric or furniture. The company also showcased a 31.5-inch quantum-dot OLED monitor, receiving praise from both gamers and content creators for its immersive and high-definition display. LG Display's Meta Technology 2.0, the third-generation OLED display technology, was recognized as Korea Display of the Year for its brightness enhancement and true-to-nature color capabilities, incorporating advanced algorithms and micro lens patterns. The conference also featured presentations of innovative display technologies, including Samsung Display's white-OLED OLED on Silicon technology with exceptional brightness and Flex Magic Pixel feature, along with ultra-thin panels for mobile devices. LG Display presented advancements in high-efficiency devices and thin-film transistor backplane stability, as well as research findings on the characteristics of OLED TV panels, emphasizing their benefits for healthy sleep by emitting less blue light compared to liquid crystal displays, thus minimizing the impact of screen time on the secretion of the sleep hormone melatonin. Both companies demonstrated their commitment to pushing the boundaries of display technology and contributing to industry advancements.
