South Korean food conglomerate Samyang Roundsquare has established its European subsidiary in the Netherlands, as reported by industry sources on Wednesday. The company has completed the necessary paperwork and has initiated the hiring process, according to insiders cited by local media. This new subsidiary represents Samyang's fifth overseas corporation, joining existing operations in Japan, China, the United States, and Indonesia. A company spokesperson explained that the Netherlands was selected as the base due to its strong infrastructure in investment, trade, and logistics, with the entity being established to optimize the supply chain across Europe. The primary goal of the new European base is to enhance distribution and expand market presence, particularly for Samyang's flagship product, the Buldak ramyeon series. In 2020, European sales accounted for 16 percent of the company's total export volume, a significant increase from 6 percent in 2019. To meet the anticipated demand, Samyang is in the process of constructing a second production facility in Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province, which is scheduled for completion next year.
