TWICE's agency cracks down on deepfake videos amid rising industry concerns

K-pop girl group TWICE, represented by JYP Entertainment, is taking a firm stance against deepfake content involving its artists, particularly in light of the increasing prevalence of sexually exploitative deepfake videos. The company has declared that it will pursue strong legal actions, working in partnership with a specialized law firm, to address the issue. They emphasized their serious approach to gathering evidence against these illegal activities and their commitment to firmly addressing any infringement on the rights of their artists. JYP Entertainment's proactive response to deepfake videos reflects a larger concern within the industry. Other entertainment companies, such as Woollim Entertainment and ADOR, have also taken legal actions to safeguard their artists from deepfake exploitation. This comes in the wake of instances where artists, including Brave Girls' Yujeong, have spoken out about falling victim to deepfake content, highlighting the distressing impact it can have on individuals regardless of gender.
