Yoon approves appointment of 7 new KBS board members

President Yoon Suk Yeol has given the green light to the appointment of seven new board members for public broadcaster KBS, as per the recommendations put forth by the state broadcasting watchdog. The approval came shortly after the recommendations were finalized during a committee meeting of the Korea Communications Commission, with all seven members being proposed by the ruling People Power Party. This move took place following the appointment of the new chief of the KCC, Lee Jin-sook, despite objections from the main opposition Democratic Party. Additionally, during the KCC meeting, six new board members were also appointed to the Foundation for Broadcast Culture, an oversight body and major shareholder of public broadcaster MBC. In response, the Democratic Party expressed their discontent by threatening to introduce an impeachment motion against Lee.
