Yoon says N. Korea will face 'end of regime' if it invades South

President Yoon Suk Yeol issued a warning to North Korea, stating that any attempt to invade South Korea would result in the end of the North Korean regime. This warning was delivered during his inspection of the annual joint exercise with the United States, known as Ulchi Freedom Shield, at the Ground Operations Command in Yongin. Yoon emphasized the importance of the joint exercise in evaluating military readiness and bolstering the combined defense posture against the increasing military threats from North Korea. Furthermore, Yoon stressed the necessity of strong firepower capabilities to counter North Korea's long-range artillery and missile bases, particularly those within striking distance of the densely populated Seoul area. He also stated the importance of overwhelming North Korea's long-range artillery and missile bases early in the event of a conflict. This visit by President Yoon to the Ground Operations Command marks the first time a sitting president has visited since its establishment in 2019. In summary, President Yoon Suk Yeol's visit to the Ground Operations Command underscored the significance of the joint military exercise in deterring North Korean provocations and ensuring the readiness of the South Korean and U.S. forces to address potential military threats from North Korea.
