Yoon stresses multilateral ties in Indo-Pacific during meeting with US representatives


President Yoon Suk Yeol met with a group of United States Congress members in Seoul to emphasize the importance of trilateral cooperation between Seoul, Washington, and Tokyo. He stressed that close cooperation based on shared values is crucial for addressing global crises and expressed gratitude for bipartisan US support for the Seoul-Washington alliance. The US delegation, led by Rep. John Moolenaar, highlighted the unprecedented strength of bilateral relations between South Korea and the United States and called for stronger ties with US allies in the Indo-Pacific region to address challenges such as North Korean threats and global issues. The delegation included Democratic Reps. Ro Khanna of California and Tom Suozzi of New York, as well as Republican Reps. Ben Cline of Virginia, Brian Babin of Texas, and Barry Loudermilk of Georgia. Prior to their visit to Seoul, the US delegation also met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Japan to discuss similar matters of mutual interest.
