Yoon visits southern naval base during summer vacation

President Yoon Suk Yeol recently visited a major naval base in the southern part of South Korea as part of his summer vacation. During his two-day visit to the naval base in Changwon, he engaged with service members, including playing basketball with a group of Navy personnel and Marines. He also had dinner with various service members at the base, some of whom had served during significant events such as the sinking of a warship by a North Korean submarine in 2010 and the bombardment of a border island in the Yellow Sea later that year. Yoon emphasized the importance of a strong national security posture in protecting South Korea from North Korea and its role in supporting the economy. He also stressed the need for strategic and security cooperation with friendly countries to garner international support in case South Korea faces a dangerous situation.
