Blackpink's Lisa wins second Best K-pop award at MTV VMAs

At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Lisa from Blackpink and also a solo artist, secured her second Best K-Pop award for her song "Rockstar." The event, held at the UBS Arena in New York City, saw Lisa triumph over tough competition like BTS Jungkook's "Seven" and NCT Dream's "Smoothie." In her acceptance speech, Lisa expressed gratitude to her fans, the RCA family, and her team, emphasizing the significance of "Rockstar" as a comeback after her previous track, "Lalisa." She also performed "Rockstar" and her new song "New Woman" at the ceremony, adding to the celebration of her win. Notably, Lisa had previously won the same award in 2022 for her solo track "Lalisa," making her the first K-pop solo artist to achieve this feat. Additionally, Lisa received nominations in four other categories this year. In a separate win, K-pop girl group Le Sserafim claimed the Best Push Performance award for their song "Easy," as part of MTV's "MTV Push" campaign highlighting emerging talents. The group also performed their new tracks "Crazy" and "1-800-HOT-N-FUN" during the 2024 MTV VMAs Pre-Show. Meanwhile, global pop sensation Taylor Swift dominated the night, securing seven awards, including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best Pop.
