Citibank supports Habitat for Humanity in addressing homelessness


Habitat for Humanity Korea has been selected by the Citi Foundation for its 2024 Global Innovation Challenge, which aims to combat homelessness through innovative solutions. As one of the 50 community organizations chosen globally, Habitat for Humanity Korea will receive $500,000 in funding from the Citi Foundation, which is donating a total of $25 million to address this pressing global issue. Brandee McHale, President of the Citi Foundation, emphasized the importance of community-based solutions in making a direct impact on those in crisis and creating replicable models for future use. Citi Korea has a longstanding partnership with Habitat for Humanity, supporting home-building projects since 1998. The collaboration has seen 1,782 Citi employees and their families contribute to constructing 42 houses for vulnerable communities. CEO Yoo Myung-soon highlighted the significance of this support in addressing homelessness in a structured and sustainable manner, enabling Citi Korea to make a more substantial contribution to Korean society. Habitat for Humanity Korea's upcoming initiatives will focus on enhancing living conditions for children and households in need, offering psychological counseling and financial education in Seoul and its surrounding areas.
