Family of late K-pop star Jonghyun launches counseling program for young artists

The family of the late SHINee member Jonghyun has launched a new initiative called Youth Meetup through the foundation established in his memory, the Shiny Foundation. The program aims to provide psychological counseling and support for young artists aged 20 to 39 working in various creative fields. Kim So-dam, Jonghyun's older sister and a director of the foundation, introduced the initiative in a video on social media, emphasizing the importance of addressing mental well-being and offering a safe space for artists to share their concerns with peers and professional counselors. The foundation, funded by royalties from Jonghyun's music, seeks to prevent psychological burnout and provide financial aid and emergency assistance to support the growth and well-being of young artists. The Shiny Foundation, established in honor of Jonghyun after he took his own life in 2017, aims to address the struggles faced by young artists and create a supportive community where they can overcome challenges together. Kim So-dam's public address in the video marked her first formal greeting in front of the camera, expressing her readiness to speak publicly and the motivation behind the new project. By offering psychological counseling and a network of support, the foundation aims to help young artists continue their creative pursuits and break free from difficult moments.
