Naver to develop Arabic-based LLM, expand AI cooperation with Saudi Arabia


Naver Corp.'s top executives were present at the Global AI Summit in Riyadh, hosted by the Saudi Data & AI Authority. The South Korean internet platform operator has entered into an initial agreement with Saudi Arabia's AI agency to collaborate on the development of a large language model (LLM) based on the Arabic language. This partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed during the summit, outlining cooperation in AI, cloud computing, data centers, and robotics. The focus of the collaboration includes the joint development of an Arabic LLM, as well as technology solutions and services in various sectors. The Saudi Data & AI Authority has been driving the nation's ambitious goal of establishing a technology-driven economy by 2030. Additionally, Naver had previously reached an agreement with the Saudi Arabian government to create a digital twin platform for Riyadh and four other cities in the country.
