Nexon has announced its decision to separate Mintrocket, its successful sub-brand responsible for the popular game "Dave the Diver," in order to enhance its independence and foster a more innovative game development environment. Mintrocket, established as Nexon's sub-brand in 2022 with a focus on creative and rapid development, achieved great success with "Dave the Diver," a single-player action-adventure game set in the deep sea where players search for ingredients for a sushi restaurant. The game became a fast-selling hit in Korea and received accolades at the British Academy Games Awards for its design. Nexon's move to split off Mintrocket is aimed at granting greater autonomy in game development and improving the overall development environment. The plan involves Mintrocket becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nexon Korea, streamlining processes for faster development of small-scale games, and implementing new incentive programs to reward exceptional employees. Hwang Jae-ho, the current division manager and future CEO of Mintrocket, emphasized the intention to maintain Mintrocket's identity and adapt swiftly to market conditions, expressing a commitment to continue delivering innovative games such as potential sequels to "Dave the Diver" in the new environment.
