Kia, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, recently launched its inaugural electric vehicle production site in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Initially focusing on manufacturing the compact EV3 SUV, Kia aims to introduce the mid-sized EV4 sedan in the upcoming year. The newly constructed plant, which cost 401.6 billion won ($304.2 million), has the capability to produce up to 150,000 vehicles annually. In collaboration with Hyundai, Kia has established its first electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province. The plant will initially focus on producing the compact EV3 SUV, with plans to introduce the mid-sized EV4 sedan next year. With an annual production capacity of 150,000 units, this 401.6 billion won ($304.2 million) facility marks a significant milestone in Kia's electric vehicle production efforts.
