Producer Teddy's girl group Meovv debuts, showcasing dual feline charms

K-pop agency The Black Label's new girl group, Meovv, made their debut on Friday with their first single, which reflects the group's identity inspired by the "chic and lovely" traits of cats. The group is under the leadership of Teddy, a renowned producer who has previously collaborated with K-pop icons BIGBANG and BLACKPINK. During the media showcase for their debut album, member Gawon expressed her gratitude for the support and assistance they have received, while Ella also conveyed her deep appreciation, emphasizing the significance of the moment. Meovv is comprised of five members with South Korean, Japanese, and American backgrounds. The group's name is a playful representation of a cat's meow, chosen to highlight their dual charm of being powerful and intense yet cute and gentle. The digital single "Meow" combines the members' unique voices with an infectious melody and an appealing bass sound, in line with the group's concept. The group's choreography for the song is inspired by cats, and when asked about what sets Meovv apart from other girl groups, Ella confidently emphasized their individual strengths and unmatched charisma when they come together. Narin stressed the importance of "individuality" as the most crucial quality for K-pop girl groups, emphasizing the need for each member to have a distinct character and a spirit of challenge. The group concluded the media showcase by addressing their international fans in five different languages, expressing their gratitude for the anticipation and their commitment to continually evolve and showcase new aspects of themselves.
