Psy's touch or new trend in music? P Nation’s solo stars lose their shine

Several K-pop artists, including Hwasa, who joined Psy's P Nation, have been facing challenges in replicating their past successes. Critics attribute this struggle to Psy's hands-on involvement in his artists' music production and the evolving trend in music that is moving away from the popularity of solo dance singers. P Nation, established by Psy in 2018 after leaving YG Entertainment, gained rapid attention with the signings of renowned artists like Jessi, HyunA, Heize, and more recently, Hwasa, all of whom had previously dominated the local music charts. However, these artists have not been able to achieve the same level of success since joining P Nation. Notably, Jessi experienced a peak in her career at P Nation with her 2020 hit "Nunu Nana," but subsequent releases like "What Type of X" did not fare as well. Similarly, Hwasa's recent tracks under P Nation, such as "I Love My Body" and "NA," only managed to secure spots in the Top 10 on local charts, showing a decline compared to her previous successful releases. Critics suggest that P Nation might not be effectively showcasing each artist's uniqueness in their music production, leading to a mismatch between the artists' styles and the music being produced.
