Hanwha zeroes in on arms exports to North America


Hanwha Aerospace is preparing to present its latest land weapon systems at the upcoming AUSA (Annual Meeting & Exposition) in Washington, aiming to penetrate the North American defense market. The company will showcase several advanced military technologies, including its wheeled self-propelled howitzer, an uncrewed transport robotic vehicle, and a modular charge system. Notably, Hanwha Defense USA will debut the K9A2 self-propelled howitzer, which features an improved fire rate of 10 rounds per minute, surpassing the previous A1 model's rate of six to eight rounds. Additionally, Hanwha will introduce GRUNT, a lifesize 6x6 hybrid electric uncrewed transport vehicle designed for various infantry operations, capable of traveling up to 290 kilometers on a full charge and carrying over 900 kilograms. The firm aims to utilize its established technologies and production capabilities to provide effective defense solutions tailored to the needs of the U.S. and Canadian armed forces. CEO Mike Smith emphasized Hanwha's commitment to delivering low-risk, high-performance artillery and innovative solutions to enhance military effectiveness.
