K-pop song once recommended by Nobel laureate Han Kang returns to music charts

Han Kang, the Nobel Prize-winning author, is making waves in the music world with her influence. Her recommendation of AKMU's song "How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You're the One I Love" has led to its resurgence on Melon's Top 100 and Daily charts. As of Sunday, the track climbed to No. 43 on the Top 100 and No. 27 on the Daily chart. This song, the lead track from AKMU's third album "Sailing," was highlighted by Han during a 2021 interview where she revealed it resonated with her while she was writing her book "I Do Not Bid Farewell." In that interview, Han shared a poignant moment when she heard the song after completing her first draft, noting how the lyrics struck her with new meaning and brought her to tears. The emotional depth of the lyrics, which speak of a love as vast as the ocean, reflects her own connection to music; she has previously produced an album to accompany her essay collection "Quiet Sung Songs," showcasing her personal involvement in the musical realm.
