Additionally, he pointed out that North Korea has severed transportation routes to the South, which he interpreted as a sign that the North is not preparing for an offensive. He remarked, "This is not something you would do if you are preparing to launch an attack."
Lim acknowledged that while warring parties may employ deceptive tactics, North Korea appears to be doing the opposite. He stated, "Barking dogs do not bite. Rather, dogs that bark loudly are dogs that are intimidated."
He cautioned against both underestimating and overestimating North Korea's military capabilities, asserting that inciting fear among the populace is a greater issue than downplaying the threat. He urged South Koreans to remain confident in their government and military, which he described as well-prepared to respond to any provocations.
These comments come in the wake of North Korea's recent explosions of inter-Korean roads along the east and west coasts, part of a series of provocations near the military demarcation line. The North Korean military has also reported heightened readiness in response to alleged incursions of uncrewed aerial vehicles from South Korea.
In a statement, Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, claimed to possess "clear evidence" implicating the South Korean military in these UAV incursions. However, the South Korean military has refrained from confirming these allegations.
