Russian ambassador hopes for improved ties with Seoul


Georgy Zinoviev, the Russian ambassador to South Korea, expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations during a forum at the National Assembly in Seoul. Despite acknowledging the current challenges faced by both countries, Zinoviev emphasized the potential for expanding cooperation and dialogue moving forward. He highlighted the historical significance of the relationship between South Korea and Russia since establishing diplomatic ties in 1990, noting the positive role played by the parliaments of both nations in fostering bilateral ties. The forum, organized by Rebuilding Korea Party Rep. Kim Joon-hyung, aimed to facilitate an in-depth exchange among South Korean lawmakers, experts, and the Russian ambassador. Zinoviev's participation in the session underscored the importance of communication and cooperation at the parliamentary level to maintain stable bilateral relations. The closed-door discussions during the event covered various topics, including the situation in Ukraine and South Korea's policies towards Russia, reflecting the ongoing relevance of diplomatic dialogue in addressing key international issues.
