S. Korea, Singapore seal supply chain agreement

During a state visit to Singapore, President Yoon Suk Yeol and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong signed a nonbinding supply chain partnership arrangement aimed at ensuring resilience in the supply chain, particularly in advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, and energy sectors. The agreement includes provisions for emergency meetings within five days of a global supply chain disruption, as well as regular activities for supply chain emergency preparedness. The two leaders emphasized the importance of partnerships between like-minded countries in addressing economic instability and disruptions in the global supply chain. In addition to the supply chain agreement, South Korea and Singapore signed two memorandums of understanding related to stabilizing liquefied natural gas procurement and technology cooperation. The agreements are expected to promote stable global energy supply chains, facilitate joint research projects in advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence, and enhance bilateral aviation cooperation. The two countries also expressed their commitment to establishing a strategic partnership in the coming year to stimulate future-oriented elements of their economies, such as AI and startups.
