This call for action follows Israel's recent airstrikes against Iran, which were a response to a ballistic missile attack from the Islamic Republic earlier this month.
Yoon highlighted that the protection of Korean citizens in both Iran and Israel is the government's top priority, urging the formulation of all necessary strategies to address potential worsening conditions.
In response to the escalating situation, the government plans to establish a continuous task force dedicated to monitoring developments in the Middle East and devising appropriate measures.
대통령 윤석열은 10월 15일 청와대에서 열린 내각 회의에서 이란과 이스라엘 간의 긴장이 고조되는 가운데 한국 국민 보호를 위한 전면적인 대책을 촉구했다고 청와대가 전했다.
이날 이스라엘은 이란이 이달 초 이스라엘에 발사한 탄도 미사일에 대한 보복으로 이란을 대상으로 한 일련의 공습을 단행했다.
윤 대통령은 "최우선 사항은 (이란과 이스라엘에 있는) 한국 국민을 보호하는 것이며, 악화되는 상황에 대비하기 위한 모든 필요한 대책을 마련해야 한다"고 말했다.
정부는 중동의 긴장을 모니터링하고 필요한 대책을 수립하기 위해 24시간 상시 태스크포스를 운영할 예정이다.
