Yoon visits Hyundai Motor's AI-powered factory in Singapore

President Yoon Suk Yeol, accompanied by Hyundai Motor Executive Chair Chung Euisun, toured the advanced Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore during his visit to Singapore. The facility, which leverages artificial intelligence and robotics, features a highly automated car manufacturing line utilizing the innovative "cell production" system. This system involves a collaborative effort between a small team of human workers and robots assigned to specific assembly tasks across 27 cells, allowing for efficient multitype small-quantity production to meet the evolving demands of futuristic mobility solutions. Yoon praised Hyundai Motor for its pioneering role in revolutionizing car manufacturing through AI and robotics, drawing parallels to Ford's conveyor belt system and Toyota's "just-in-time" principle. Situated in Singapore's Jurong Innovation District, the cutting-edge facility, capable of producing around 30,000 vehicles including electric sedans like the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, has not only pushed the boundaries of automation with a 46 percent rate but also generated 270 local jobs, with South Korean employees making up only a small fraction of the workforce.
