Captain Son Heung-min scored the equalizer in the 16th minute, shortly after Palestine had taken the lead at Amman International Stadium in Amman. This goal marked Son's 51st international goal, placing him in second place on South Korea's all-time scoring list.
Despite dominating possession, South Korea was unable to score again. The match was held in Jordan as a neutral venue due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
South Korea currently leads Group B with 14 points from four wins and two draws, holding a six-point advantage over Iraq and Jordan. Their previous encounter with Palestine ended in a goalless draw on September 5 in Seoul.
This match was South Korea's final World Cup qualifying game for 2024, with the campaign set to resume in March with home matches against Oman and Jordan. The third round is scheduled to conclude in June with an away match against Iraq and a home game against Kuwait.
In this qualification phase, there are three groups of six teams, with the top two from each group earning spots in the 2026 World Cup. Teams finishing in third and fourth will advance to the fourth round.
South Korea has participated in every World Cup since 1986.

이번 단계에서는 6팀씩 3개의 조가 있으며, 각 조의 상위 두 팀이 2026 월드컵에 진출하게 된다. 3위와 4위는 4차전으로 진행된다.
