Jang Sung-woo captured the gold medal in the men's 1,000-meter short track speed skating event at the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, on February 9, marking his second gold of the competition.
Jang secured the title by edging out his teammate Park Ji-won, while Liu Shaoang of China took the bronze medal. Another Chinese skater, Sun Long, fell during the final stretch and finished in fifth place.
During the nine-lap race, Liu and Sun initially led the pack. After three laps, Jang positioned himself between Sun and Liu, with Park remaining in fourth place.
Park attempted an outside maneuver but was unable to close the gap. Jang subsequently executed an inside move to pass Liu, taking the lead with two laps remaining.
In a dramatic finish, Park and Sun made contact, resulting in Sun's fall, which nearly affected other skaters. Jang managed to cross the finish line first, narrowly avoiding the incident.
This victory marked Korea's second short track gold medal of the day, following Choi Min-jeong's win in the women's 1,000m event, and contributed to the country's overall total of six gold medals in the competition.
On the previous day, Jang earned bronze medals in both the men's 500m and 1,500m events and also secured a gold medal in the mixed 2,000m relay after competing in the semifinals.

결승에 진출한 또 다른 중국 스케이터 쑤롱은 마지막 구간에서 균형을 잃고 넘어져 5위로 마무리했다.
리우와 쑤는 9바퀴 레이스의 초반에 선두를 달렸다. 3바퀴 후, 장성우는 쑤와 리우 사이에 들어섰고, 박지원은 4위로 머물렀다.
박지원은 외곽에서 기회를 만들려고 했지만, 간격을 좁히지 못했다. 이후 장성우는 리우를 제치고 두 바퀴 남은 상황에서 선두로 올라섰다.
결승선을 향한 혼란스러운 접전에서 박지원과 쑤롱이 순간적으로 서로 접촉하며 쑤롱이 넘어졌고, 이로 인해 다른 스케이터들이 위험에 처했다.
박지원은 아슬아슬하게 충돌을 피하며 장성우가 가장 먼저 결승선을 통과하는 모습을 지켜봤다.
장성우의 금메달은 이날 한국의 두 번째 쇼트트랙 금메달로, 그 직후 최민정이 여자 1,000m 타이틀을 따냈으며, 전체 여섯 번째 금메달을 기록한 것이다.
토요일에는 장성우가 남자 500m와 1,500m에서 동메달을 차지했으며, 금요일 준결승에 출전한 혼합 2,000m 계주에서 금메달을 획득했다.
