Prosecutors have requested a sentence of three and a half years in prison for popera singer Kim Ho-joong following an incident where he drove his car into a taxi and subsequently fled the scene. The court proceedings took place at the Seoul Central District Court on May 24.
Kim, 33, was indicted under arrest for the incident that occurred on May 9 in Gangnam Ward, Seoul. He was charged with ramming his vehicle into a stationary taxi and leaving the scene without taking appropriate action. Additionally, he allegedly had his manager turn himself in to the authorities on his behalf.
Ten days after the accident, Kim acknowledged his responsibility for the incident. During his final testimony, he expressed remorse for his actions, stating, "I reflected on all of my faults during my time served at the Seoul Detention Center and tried to repent (my actions) sincerely."
Previously, the Seoul Central District Court had sentenced Kim to two and a half years in prison. The appellate court is expected to deliver its ruling on April 25.

검찰은 수요일, 김호중에게 택시와 충돌한 후 현장을 이탈하고 매니저에게 자수하도록 한 혐의로 3년 6개월의 실형을 구형했다.
33세의 김호중은 5월 9일 서울 강남구에서 정차 중인 택시에 자신의 차량을 들이받고 적절한 조치를 취하지 않고 현장을 떠난 혐의로 체포돼 기소됐다. 그는 매니저에게 대신 자수하라고 지시한 것으로 알려졌다.
김은 사건이 발생한 10일 후 자신의 책임을 인정했다.
그는 최종 증언에서 "서울 구치소에서 복역하는 동안 내 잘못을 반성하며 진심으로 (행동을) 회개하려고 했다"고 밝혔다.
앞서 서울중앙지법은 김에게 2년 6개월의 징역형을 선고했다.
항소심은 4월 25일 판결을 내릴 예정이다.
