Kim Hyo-joo has secured her seventh career LPGA title after a dramatic playoff victory at the Ford Championship held at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona, on March 30. Kim triumphed over former world No. 1 Lilia Vu on the first hole of the playoff, earning $337,500 and surpassing $10 million in total LPGA career earnings.
Both players concluded regulation play tied at 22-under 266 after 72 holes, leading to a sudden-death playoff. Vu led after 54 holes, while Kim started the final round four strokes behind. However, Kim posted an impressive eight-under 64, featuring nine birdies, compared to Vu's four-under 68.
During the playoff, Kim returned to the 18th hole where she secured a birdie to clinch the victory. This win marks Kim's first LPGA victory since the Volunteers of America Classic in October 2023.
At 29 years old, Kim becomes the second Korean player to achieve a title on the LPGA Tour in 2025, following Kim A-lim, who won the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in February.
Kim had a strong start, reaching the turn at 31, and quickly jumped into the lead with two early birdies on the back nine. Although she encountered a setback on the 12th hole with a bogey after finding water, she rebounded with an 18-foot birdie putt on the 16th hole, breaking a four-way tie for the lead. Another birdie on the par-five 17th gave her an advantage before Vu matched her with a birdie on the same hole, sending the tournament into the playoff.
Kim's excellent approach on the 18th set up a six-foot birdie attempt, while Vu missed her chance from 15 feet. This significant win concluded a windy day in the desert.

김은 전반에 31타를 기록하며 주도권을 잡았고, 후반 시작에 두 개의 버디를 기록했다. 하지만 12번 홀에서 그린 오른쪽에 물이 있어 보기가 나오는 등 잠시 실수했다.
