According to reports, Lee was set to start in a game against the Texas Rangers on March 13 but was a late scratch due to back discomfort experienced upon waking up. The team's management indicated that the tightness in Lee's back had persisted longer than anticipated, leading to the decision for further imaging and a follow-up examination.
The Giants are set to open their season on March 27 against the Cincinnati Reds on the road. Giants manager Bob Melvin expressed hope that Lee would still have adequate time to prepare for Opening Day, contingent on his ability to participate in spring training games either in Scottsdale, Arizona, or in exhibition games at Oracle Park in San Francisco next week.
"If he can play here or at home, we're fine," Melvin stated, emphasizing the importance of timely participation. He acknowledged that the situation had taken longer to resolve than expected but remained optimistic about receiving positive news following the MRI.
Lee's previous season was marred by injury, as he was limited to just 37 games in 2024 due to a left shoulder injury incurred after colliding with an outfield wall. This spring, he had been performing well, batting .300 with two home runs, five RBIs, and an on-base slugging of .967 across 12 games before his recent setback.

보도에 따르면 이의 허리 긴장 상태가 자이언츠가 예상했던 것보다 더 오래 지속되어, 팀은 이미징과 추가 검사를 실시하기로 결정했다.
자이언츠는 3월 27일 시애틀에서 신시내티 레즈와의 시즌 개막전을 치를 예정이다.
