Actor Seo Kang-joon reflected on the conclusion of MBC’s action comedy series “Undercover High School,” marking his return to the small screen after completing mandatory military service. He expressed satisfaction in showcasing a new side of himself through the character Jung Hae-sung.
Seo stated, “I remember the times spent working together with many staff members while filming this series. From the hot summer through the cold winter, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who gave their all without holding back.” He noted that the series was significant as it allowed him to present a different persona post-military service, emphasizing his enjoyment in portraying the character who diverges from his previous roles.
The 12-part series follows Jung, a National Intelligence Service ace field agent, who goes undercover at a prestigious high school. Disguised as a new student, he embarks on a mission to locate King Gojong’s missing gold bars. The operation becomes complicated when he reconnects with his childhood friend, Oh Soo-ah, who is now his homeroom teacher.
The series concluded with Jung successfully completing his mission and bringing the school’s chair to justice. Oh, who aided Jung in the operation, achieved her dream of becoming a full-time teacher and found happiness in her relationship with him. The final episode recorded a viewership rating of 5.8 percent.
Jin Ki-joo, who portrayed Oh Soo-ah, also expressed gratitude to the audience, sharing that the series contributed to her personal growth. She remarked, “'Undercover High School' is a work that made me become a bit more mature. Through this series, I was able to experience a character with a strong heart to protect someone, and I was able to become more solid as I filmed it.”
Jin thanked viewers for their support, stating, “Thanks to everyone who watched Soo-ah with love … I think I'll be able to let go of Soo-ah without regrets thanks to that love. I hope you had a lot of good laughs through the drama. Thank you so much for supporting and staying with 'Undercover High School' until the end.”

12부작으로 구성된 이 시리즈는 국가정보원 엘리트 요원 정이 고등학교에 잠입해 고종의 잃어버린 금괴를 찾기 위한 작전을 수행하는 이야기이다. 그는 학교의 새 전학생으로 변장하고 작전을 수행하지만, 어린 시절 친구였던 담임교사 오수아(진기주 분)를 만나면서 사건이 전개된다.
이번 시리즈는 정이 금괴를 찾는 미션을 완료하고 학교의 교장을 감옥에 보내면서 마무리되었다. 정의 작전을 도와준 오수아는 꿈꾸던 정규 교사가 되는 성과를 이루고, 정과의 로맨스에서 행복을 찾는다. 마지막 회는 5.8%의 시청률을 기록했다.
진기주도 시청자들에게 감사의 인사를 전하며 이 시리즈가 자신을 성장하게 했다고 밝혔다.
