The 10th Hechyeomoyeo (HCMY) group art exhibition is concluding this Friday after a vibrant 20-day run. The event featured 270 artists, exceeding the initial cap of 200, each showcasing their work at the Light Gallery in Yongsan District.
The exhibition created a diverse mosaic of art displayed throughout the gallery's four walls. Neil Wheelock Deforest Smith, the main organizer, noted that 120 of the participating artists were first-time exhibitors. He mentioned that two artists have participated in nine of the previous exhibitions, while about a dozen have exhibited multiple times.
The high number of new participants reflects the exhibition's inclusive concept, which invites anyone to display their work or contribute in various ways. Barend Harris, a British creator of games, illustrations, music, and software, expressed his appreciation for the relaxed and free-form nature of Hechyeomoyeo, contrasting it with more traditional art galleries.

HCMY의 주최자인 닐 휠록 디포레스트 스미스에 따르면, 참여한 예술가 중 120명이 처음으로 전시하는 작가였다.
그는 "두 명의 예술가는 9번의 전시회에 참가했다"고 덧붙였다. "약 열두 명은 그보다 적지만 몇 번 이상 참여한 작가들이다."
신규 참여자의 수는 모든 사람이 자신의 작품을 전시하거나 다른 방식으로 기여할 수 있도록 초대하는 개념의 개방성을 반영한다.
영국의 게임, 일러스트, 음악 및 소프트웨어 제작자인 바렌드 해리스는 "헤쳐모여의 매력은 좀 더 편안하고 자유로운 형식이라는 것"이라고 말했다.
그는 자신의 예술을 전시하며 행사 기간 동안 음악 공연도 하였으며, 다른 미술관보다 이 개념을 선호한다고 밝혔다.
