Sales at Korea's top three casinos, which cater exclusively to foreign nationals, experienced a significant increase in the first quarter of 2025, driven by the resurgence of international travelers, according to recent data.
Industry analysts anticipate further growth in earnings, particularly with the government's plans to permit visa-free entry for Chinese group tourists, potentially starting in the third quarter of the year.
Data from the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system, DART, revealed that Paradise Hotel & Resort's casino division achieved preliminary sales of 222.9 billion won ($156.5 million) in the first quarter of 2025, marking an 8.8 percent rise compared to the previous year. Although sales figures dipped in January and February year-on-year, March saw a remarkable recovery, with monthly sales increasing by 51.6 percent to 81 billion won.
Similarly, Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), which operates the Seven Luck casinos, reported a strong performance, with preliminary first-quarter sales climbing 15.6 percent to 108.3 billion won compared to the same period last year.
Experts attribute this growth to an increase in the hold percentage, which reflects the casino's retained share of the total betting volume, alongside targeted marketing strategies.
