Daewoo Engineering & Construction has entered into a $700 million framework agreement to construct a fertilizer plant in Turkmenistan, as announced by Seoul's industry ministry on Friday.
The agreement was finalized in Seoul with Turkmenistan's state-owned chemical firm, Turkmenhimiya. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy indicated that the Korean firm had been designated the preferred bidder for the project in October.
The initiative aims to build a fertilizer plant that will extract phosphoric acid from phosphate rocks, with a processing capacity of 300,000 tons of fertilizers annually, scheduled for completion by 2029 in eastern Turkmenistan.
Following the signing ceremony, Korean Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun held discussions with Turkmenistan's counterpart, Baymyrat Annamammedov, focusing on the potential for expanding bilateral cooperation in additional industrial plant projects.
대한민국의 산업부는 금요일에 대우건설이 투르크메니스탄에 비료 공장을 건설하기 위해 7억 달러 규모의 기본 계약을 체결했다고 발표했다.
이 계약은 서울에서 투르크메니스탄 국영 화학회사인 투르크메니히미야와 체결되었으며, 한국 기업이 이 프로젝트의 선호 입찰자로 선정된 것은 10월이었다.
이 프로젝트는 2029년까지 동부 투르크메니스탄에서 인산 칼슘을 추출하여 연간 30만 톤의 비료를 생산하는 비료 공장을 건설하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.
계약 체결식 이후, 한국의 산업부 장관과 투르크메니스탄 장관은 다른 산업 플랜트 프로젝트에서 양국 간 협력 확대에 대해 논의했다고 산업부는 전했다.
