HD Hyundai Electric announced on Tuesday that its first-quarter revenue increased by 26.7 percent year-on-year, reaching 1.1 trillion won ($776 million). The company's operating profit rose significantly by 69.4 percent to 218.2 billion won, marking the first time the manufacturer of transformers and switchgear has exceeded 1 trillion won in quarterly revenue.
The substantial performance is primarily attributed to a surge in electricity demand in the United States, driven by the necessity to replace outdated equipment and enhance infrastructure to support artificial intelligence. In the North American market, the company reported first-quarter sales of 388.9 billion won, representing a 74.7 percent increase from 222.6 billion won in the same period last year.
A company official stated during a conference call, "We anticipate continued orders in North America again this year." The official noted that deferred revenue from power transformer projects in the previous quarter contributed to the rapid sales growth in the region.
Additionally, U.S. energy policies were highlighted as beneficial to the company's performance, with specific reference to a declaration made by the previous administration regarding energy initiatives.
