Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator and director of the acclaimed series "Squid Game," will receive the Creator Tribute at the upcoming Gotham Television Awards, as announced by the awards' organizer on Friday.
The Gotham Film & Media Institute stated that Hwang was chosen for "combining high-stakes storytelling with sharp cultural commentary to create the global phenomenon." The Creator Tribute category, introduced last year, aims to honor iconic artists and creators who have significantly impacted television.
Since its inception in 1991, the Gotham Awards have celebrated outstanding achievements in independent films and television series. "Squid Game" previously won the award for Breakthrough Series -- Long Form (over 40 minutes) in 2021.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in person at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on June 2.

시상식은 6월 2일 뉴욕시 Cipriani Wall Street에서 직접 개최될 예정이다.
