Hyundai Motor Group announced on Thursday its collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to create a new research center in India focused on advancing future mobility technologies, particularly in electrification and battery systems.
The partnership agreement, signed on Wednesday, will establish the Hyundai Center of Excellence, which is intended to function as a hub for joint research projects within a long-term academic-industry cooperation framework.
Hyundai Motor and Kia plan to invest approximately 5 billion won (around $3.5 million) over the next two years to support research initiatives at the center.
The collaboration has identified nine projects with IIT Delhi, which will address various aspects of battery technology, including battery cells and systems, battery management systems, safety, durability, and diagnostic technologies.
Additionally, the center will investigate new materials and components to improve battery design and performance.
An official signing ceremony for the partnership agreement took place in New Delhi, attended by key representatives from both organizations.

현대자동차와 기아는 센터에서 미래 이동 수단 기술 연구를 진행하기 위해 약 50억 원(350만 달러)을 2년에 걸쳐 투자할 계획이다.
그룹은 IIT 델리와 함께 배터리 셀 및 시스템, 배터리 관리 시스템, 안전성, 내구성 및 진단 기술 등 9개의 협력 프로젝트를 식별했다.
또한, 센터는 배터리 설계 및 성능을 더욱 향상시키기 위한 새로운 재료 및 구성 요소를 탐색할 예정이다.
공식적인 협약 서명식은 뉴델리에서 개최되었으며, 현대 연구개발 본부장인 양희완 사장이 참석했다.
