Korea will host a series of welcoming events for international tourists beginning this week, as announced by the culture ministry on Monday.
The 2025 Korea Welcome Week will take place from April 25 to May 16, aligning with major holiday periods such as Japan's Golden Week and China's Labor Day, as well as the senior officials' meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit on Korea's resort island of Jeju, which are peak times for foreign arrivals.
The Welcome Week event aims to enhance travel convenience and provide a positive experience for visitors, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Visit Korea Committee.
Welcome booths will be established at Incheon, Gimpo, and Jeju international airports, as well as the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal. These booths will feature displays of traditional Korean crafts and will be staffed with multilingual guides to offer travel information and assistance.
A digital tourism guide map, created using a multilingual map platform, will be available at the booths and on the official Visit Korea website.
문화체육관광부에 따르면, 한국은 이번 주부터 외국인 관광객을 위한 일련의 환영 행사를 개최할 예정이다. 2025 한국 환영 주간은 4월 25일부터 5월 16일까지 진행되며, 일본의 황금 연휴, 중국의 노동절, 그리고 한국 제주도에서 열리는 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 정상회의와 같은 주요 휴일과 맞물린 시기로, 외국인 방문객이 가장 많은 시점이다.
환영 주간 행사 목적은 여행 편의성을 높이고 방문객들에게 긍정적인 경험을 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 인천, 김포, 제주 국제공항 및 부산항 국제여객터미널에 단계적으로 환영 부스가 설치된다.
환영 부스에서는 전통 한국 공예품 전시와 함께 다국어 가이드를 배치하여 여행 정보 및 지원을 제공할 예정이다. 또한, 네이버의 다국어 지도 플랫폼을 활용해 제작된 디지털 관광 가이드 맵이 부스와 공식 방문 한국 웹사이트에서 제공된다.
