LIV Golf's Korean rookie Jang Yu-bin expressed his excitement on Wednesday about competing in front of local fans when the Saudi Arabia-backed tour makes its inaugural appearance in South Korea next month.
Jang, who was named Player of the Year on the KPGA Tour in 2024, joined LIV Golf in December as the first Korean national to be part of the breakaway tour. He is associated with Iron Heads Golf Club, which is led by Korean-born American Kevin Na. Also on the team is Danny Lee, a Korean native representing New Zealand, while Martin Kim, a former member of the Los Angeles Dodgers front office, serves as the general manager.
After a tournament in Mexico City next week, LIV Golf will debut in South Korea on May 2 with a three-day event at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, located just west of Seoul.
"I am familiar with the course, which hosted the Genesis Championship of the KPGA Tour last year," Jang said during an online media session. "I've been gaining some experience playing out here this year, and I can't wait to see Korean fans."
Jang has shown strong performance on the KPGA Tour, indicating a promising presence for the upcoming LIV Golf event.
